So much yes. Not only is downtown Lake Villa quaint and old-timey feeling, but so is this place - in a good way. While not a dive, don't expect to be immediately reassured by the look or decor. But it's the kind of place you know the locals frequent: a breakfast bar with stools, bouncy vinyl booth cushions, men dining alone dressed in their hunting gear. Good coffee, good service, good food. So glad we can call Lake Villa (and this family-owned blast from the past) home. I almost didn't want to write this review because for my sake I don't want you going there (did that sound too hipster-ish? I hate hipsters). But go, and support awesome small businesses like this!

Update: Came here for breakfast today (Father's Day). It was three of us and it was packed. We were seated within 30 seconds of walking in though and we're tended to immediately. They had every table taken but we were still checked on frequently, refills were given promptly and everyone was SO nice, even when they were running around trying to keep up with everything. As always, this place is phenomenal and has never been a let down! Will be back.. hopefully tomorrow! :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Note: Lake Villa Restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. They no longer serve dinner * This review is overdue considering how much I come here. They aren't always packed but it gets busy sometimes. Nevertheless, service is always great. Food is always freshly made, homemade and an absolute must for anyone in need of a home cooked meal. Prices are excellent. About $6 or $7 per person for each meal and it is always nice supporting a local family owned business compared to going out to eat at some big ol' restaurant chain. Highly recommended for anyone driving by or through the town as it cannot get much better than this. Cheap, home cooked meals with excellent quality and superb wait service. A+ all around.

We waited over 40 minutes after ordering breakfast for it to be served. A table of 5 that came in after us along with two other tables of 2 were all served their orders first. I ordered a skillet with the eggs over easy but they were well over cooked. My wife had plain scrambled eggs and even those were bad. The servers were very nice but the food was awful... We will not be back.

I love this place! It's family-run and the entire staff is friendly and wonderful. The food has always been great - I've never had a bad meal here. I only wish they were open for dinner. For breakfast, my fave is the Lake Villa omelet, but the pancakes are great and the biscuits and gravy are to die for. In the fall/winter, I could eat my body weight in their pumpkin pancakes if I had the option. For lunch, you have to get their chicken and dumpling soup (and get another bowl of it to take home for later). The patty melt is great and the burgers are really good. Everything feels home cooked, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the items on the menu. ...but save room for dessert. Homemade pies, oh my! Apple, cherry, and more. And the most awesome bread pudding.

I grew up eating here. After many years break, I returned last weekend. I was a little disappointed that they only do breakfast and lunch now, but I can't say I was suprised. Came with family for late Saturday brunch. It was slow, and the waitress seemed frazzled (10 minutes for an iced tea) BUT She was great with my senior parents. Spoke slowly and clearly, and I have mad respect for servers understanding their customers. I had a skillet, mom had crepes, dad had the denver omelet. Everything was good. Just as I remember. I know its now the next generation managing the place, and good job to them! After all these years, it is nice to see that somethings never change, and I like that. I will defintely be back, SOON!

First food was good if not great. However the service was the worst I have had at breakfast in a very long time. They were not busy and it took ten minutes (no exaggeration) to get WATER! Water? The earth is covered in 75% water and these people cant find the time to throw a few ounces in a glass? I live very close by and will drive past this restaurant only because the service was so horrendous!

Found this place on yelp after a soccer game in Lake Villa. Very good service! Very yummy food! The kids loved their food and the prices were excellent. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great little place to eat breakfast/lunch.
